    SUBSTITUTE TEACHER APPLICANTS

The next substitute teacher orientation will be on January 12 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. All paperwork and fingerprinting must be completed to attend the orientation.

Hardin-Jefferson ISD processes substitute applications for the current school year through January of that year.  For individuals interested in substituting for the following school year, we begin processing applications in June preceding the beginning of the school year.

Hardin-Jefferson ISD strives to employ the most qualified applicants; therefore, applicants with a valid teaching certificate will be considered first for substitute teaching positions. In addition, to substitute teachers, Hardin-Jefferson ISD utilizes substitutes for paraprofessional staff (clerical and classroom aides) as well as school nurses.

All substitute applications must be submitted through the online application system. In order for a substitute application file to be considered complete, the following must be on file:

    • Teaching certificate, if applicable
    • Proof of education (College transcript or High school)
    • Several employment forms that will be emailed to you once your application is received

Applicants selected as substitute candidates are required to be fingerprinted before attending a substitute orientation. Once all required documents are received, you will receive a Fingerprint Pass by email.  You will use this Fingerprint Pass to make an appointment to be printed.  The fingerprinting cost is approximately $50, paid by the applicant.
