RESPONSE TO INTERVENTION
The goal of the Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District is to provide all students with a quality academic foundation. It is our belief that all students can learn. Unfortunately, the academic process may become a struggle for several of our students. When a student meets an unforeseen academic or behavioral hurdle, it is the responsibility of our educators to provide a seamless problem-solving process, using frequent data collection, to guide all decisions regarding the student’s academic and behavioral progress.
Response to Intervention (RTI) is most effective when a student’s academic and behavior struggles are identified early, when problems are small. It is far easier and more effective to intervene using researched-based strategies when a problem is first developing rather than waiting until larger deficits require more intensive forms of intervention.
The District Response to Invention Plan will serve as a guiding document for all campuses. Campuses have the freedom to modify the District RTI Plan in order to meet their individual campus needs. Student assessments, screenings, progress monitoring tools, and intervention strategies will vary from campus to campus.
The HJISD RTI program is being revised and will be posted at a later date.
