    ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)

    The ESL/Bilingual Education/Title III program provides technical assistance and training for teachers and administrators to support Texas state requirements for addressing the needs of English language learners in all classrooms.

     

    • Assisting content teachers in supporting ELLs for academic success
    • ELPS - implementing ELPS on the campus and in the classroom
    • ESL/ESOL strategies
    • Instructional strategies for struggling English learners
    • Linguistic accommodations for ELLs
    • Sheltered instruction
    • TELPAS 
    • ESL certification and new teacher support
    • District program coordinator technical assistance, training and support
    • LPAC committee support

     

    ABSENCES:
    A student is considered chronically absent if they miss only two days of school per month (18 days in a year), whether the absences are excused or unexcused. This is true for children as early as elementary school, when they are at a higher risk of falling behind in reading. Even one year of chronic absence can cause a child to fall behind academically and decrease a child’s chances of graduating from high school, which can have long-term consequences on their financial independence, physical well-being and mental health.
  • TEXAS COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS SUPPORT CENTER


    The Texas College and Career Readiness Support Center is a collection of resources and tools available to all stakeholders committed to building a strong college and career readiness culture in Texas schools. Housed at Education Service Center Region 13, the center’s two main projects, the Texas College and Career Readiness Profile Planning Guide and the Texas Online College and Career Readiness Resource Center, were created to support all educators as they continue to assist students for successful post-secondary options.
